Wedding day came and went... now we relax!

I can’ t even begin express how great the wedding was. I truly feel like what I had envisioned came to life. I had this image in my head of the reception venue and with the help of many, I feel like we nailed it. Aside from a small time hiccup, which was quickly resolved, everything went great. Everyone seemed to have fun and I got a lot of compliments for the dress and the decorations. The ceremony was more than what I had expected. I feel very proud of myself for accomplishing it all.

Of course we took a lot of pictures. We haven’t gotten them back from the photographer yet but he posted this gem on his Facebook page and I am in love with it!

We should get the other pictures shortly and I will do my best to pick out my favorite ones and post them here! A video is also in the making, I actually haven’t even taken the time to watch all the clips, I’ve been too busy relaxing!

We want to thank everyone for coming and spending a beautiful evening with us and all your amazing presents are very appreciated!

We are slowly planning the honeymoon. Aaron of course went back to work the following day but we are looking forward to having more news about postings shortly so we can make this vacation happen! We are very excited about it!

Just a few days away.

These past couple of weeks have been nothing but stress, excitement and feelings! All the feelings!

Let's just say that rushing to get my dress done because it was never ready when I was told it would be was crazy stressful! Yikes! I also JUST got confirmation that we can indeed have alcohol at the wedding, the permit has been issued since January but we still haven't received it. Aaron also just got his confirmation in writing that he can attend his own wedding! -__-

So as far as what we did these past few weeks... we bought all the alcohol and treats, we put together our playlists (still working on it), we finalized our table runners and aisle runner. I also had my final appointment with my photographer and I am so excited for our pictures! I basically confirmed all the last minute details with the venue and finished all my little projects. I ended up doing a project that I had scratch off my list because I thought I would not have time to do it. I am actually super happy with it! It's all coming together and I could not be any more proud of myself.

Oh side note... it's my Birthday today!! I actually was not super excited about it last night when the clock turned to midnight, I was a bit sad! I figured I would have more things done out of my list of long term projects but with Aaron's job, I have learnt to be patient... somewhat. And with all the birthday wishes I am receiving from friends I feel much better! Thank you friends! Oh and thank you Google, you remembered my birthday, how thoughtful of you!
I mean, how sweet is that!

Oh and what was even better these past few days is that on Friday I had a surprise bridal shower, I guess I would call it that, at work. I was so surprised! I am usually hard to surprise because I always end up finding out about it. They really got me. I was so surprised and touched that I cried a little. I'll admit it! It was really sweet of them to plan out a little tea party for me. It was great. Someone had been listening real hard to what I was describing when speaking about the wedding plans!

And as if that was not enough, on Saturday I had my bachelorette spa day with my maid of honor. I got pampered like never before. Had my nails and make-up done, all with a glass of mimosa, or maybe more than one! The afternoon turned into a dinner with my family and friends and then I went for some drinks with my two favorite girls, my maid of honor and bridesmaid! It was a great way to celebrate both my bachelorette and birthday!

Aaron Update
I don't even know! Ah! Isn't that the best?! They seem to be making every effort possible to make sure we have no idea what is going to happen for the next few weeks. I guess things are probably all very tentative, with nothing firmed up but hey, once this wedding is done, I'm planning a honeymoon.... gotta get started sooner or later. To be honest, I am just very happy we got the all clear for the wedding. I was so stressed about it. Aaron kept saying that he was not gonna get denied but until it was on paper, I could not allow myself to believe it. We are hoping that once the weather clears up a bit, he will get more freedom to move around and come home on the weekends. This wedding is not the end of things, we have big plans for the future and we want to start working on some of those plans before long, so the more time we get together the better we can do that.

Oh and my Fantastic YouTube Experience you ask? Yeah not much going on there. I still have the odd view here and there but nothing too exciting! I've been too busy with wedding stuff to take time to edit and post a video. The one I had for new years eve will probably never go up, it's a bit late now, don't you think?! I do plan on Vlogging the wedding day so maybe I'll have a video a bit after.

When things don't go as you planned!

So I have been debating posting more over the past couples of weeks. Some rough stuff happened and is still happening to us at this time and dealing with Aaron's training and the wedding at the same time becomes overwhelming and I just don't know if I should be talking about it or not.

I still think I should update on how things are going with the wedding preparations and with Aaron's training.

Wedding Update

Last time I wrote I had a list of stuff to do. Almost all of it has been done; my dad made our benches, we finalized the table runners, I came up with the seating chart, I've done my gown fitting (I'm actually going for my last fitting this wednesday), the girls tried on their dresses and modifications were made where needed, I went for a hair appointment today and after some fiddling with it I found what I want, I started making favors and I printed a bunch of stuff!

I feel like most of what is left is to figure out stuff like speeches, text for the ceremony, vows , music and such. So I am trying to remain calm and relax a bit too. I just want it all to be perfect!!

Update on Aaron

I was a bit wrong about what I said last time about Aaron's training. First of all, he does NOT get weekends home! He is allowed to leave the base but apparently Ottawa is too far. I'm quite pissed! He has no problem driving the distance but he is not allowed because of the risk of car accident and snow and blah blah blah... I get it, but I am having a hard time accepting it. It's hard to not feel like you don't matter when stuff like that happens. As far as future trainings, I have no clue what is going on. As much as I stress about moving for our first posting, I am ready for it to happen if it means we get to be together and move forward in our lives. He has been away for far too long for my liking and I feel it puts a strain on our plans, it's a major road block for sure. So all I can do for now is wait and maybe plan to go see him over there or somewhere half way so that he stays in the distance limits that he has been imposed.

I feel like such a downer, but that's just what's going on right now...

And yes obviously, I have not taken the time to post anything on my YouTube Channel... I don't think anyone was impatiently waiting since I've been so consistent with posting videos! Ah!

And a new one starts

The New Year starts and so does our hopes for this next year in our life. We have, as you know, a big wedding coming up but we also have other major life projects going on that we hope to see accomplished in 2014. We are working towards those goals. It’s not always easy, but we charge on. We hope that your new year is filled with new exciting adventures, what ever they may be!

First order of the day, I forgot my phone at home! OMG WHAT AM I GOING TO DO! Okay calm down... things will be okay, the world is not going to stop, but I will miss some text messages, OMG It's the end of the world!

Okay... fit of panic over! See sometimes I freak out. I have a tendency to do that, I'm the first to admit it. Some days are worst than others. For example yesterday I had a bad ache in one of my legs. Upon further examination into my habits, I figured out it's because I stand like a dumbass.  But at the time, I thought the worst, like a bone disease or something. Does that make me a hypochondriac? ... yes, yes it does. But this freakoutness of mine does not end at medical stuff, I just about freak out over any weird thing depending on the day. Some days one thing will be the end of the world, and the next I couldn't care less. I think that's what you can anxiety. Or maybe that is simply called being a woman? I better check with my doctor.

This is somewhat how I feel about the wedding. I have freakouts here and there. Most days are fine and then on a day where I’m not doing any wedding stuff, just relaxing enjoying my freedom, I get a kick in the gut, an overwhelming feeling of doom, wedding doom! A feeling that tells me I will never have it all done. And you see, the thing is that I will have it all done. I know it because I have been on top of this wedding business for months now. Considering I have done everything so far on my own, with some help from Aaron, I know I can finish it off and it will be the best damn wedding you have ever been to! Still, sometimes I doubt myself. As always, I have my list and I check it just about everyday (except today because I left my phone at home!). It keeps me sane. Ah Ah the joys of wedded bliss!

So over the holidays we managed to go and taste the food we will be serving at the wedding. And you are in for a treat. We loved everything about it. They fed us so much! We went on a day where there was a big snow fall and because they were only expecting us and one more couple, they had not plowed the street very much. I got my car stuck in the snow, I cried!

We also started making some table runners for ... well the tables. We had help from a friend.

I also printed out the menus. Oh I just love them! They turned out just like I wanted them. That’s when it pays off to have a bachelor in graphic design.

Aaron’s sister came over to try her dress on. I love it but those gowns are hard to figure out. Good thing she will have some practice with it for a few weeks. I still need to make appointments with the other girls to come over and try theirs on. And then of course, I have to go for my fitting.

So here’s what is on the “To Do” list:

- Gown fittings for myself and the bridesmaids
- Finish organizing my accessories
- Figure out hair and make-up
- Make bouquets and boutonnieres
- Making deserts
- Finalizing favors
- Finishing the tables runners and the aisle runner
- Finishing the seating (which my dad is making for us, yay!)
- Making our arch
- Printing out a bunch of different things
- Making a seating charts
- Organizing music and order of ceremony and reception

And of course all the other small details like, oh I don’t now… write my vows! But the best things is that I have no more flowers to make! (And the crowd goes wild!!!!!!!!)

Oh and surprise, surprise, Aaron took a project with him to Borden! Yay! I was waiting for that day! I get to leave it completely to him and not worry about it.

So about Aaron, he has returned to Borden. Sad face! It was very hard to let him go. We got to spend almost three weeks together and having him home felt great. So having to watch him leave again was just heartbreaking for me. I can’t believe it has been almost 17 months since he has lived at home for more than 3 weeks in a row. I never thought I would be in a long distance relationship and still manage to make it work. Of course we get to see each other now more often but there was a time that it was not so possible. We saw each other maybe once a month, sometimes less. So yeah … I guess I’m just bragging on about my relationship.

But to get back to what I was trying to say, Aaron will start his next training on Monday the 13th. He still gets to come home on weekends, not like when he was in basic training. I believe it’s a 16 weeks training. Not long enough for me to move to Borden, but still too long to be far away from home. After that he has a 4 weeks training where he does not get to come home whatsoever. Oh the waiting! Everyone tells me this is just the beginning and that it gets better, but frankly, it does not make me feel better. Sorry. I know you are all trying to help. I just have to keep my eye on the prize. There’s a very good chance that we will get our posting orders when he is done his training, before he starts the 4 weeks one. I’m nervous but also excited! Also, we hope that his trainings are back to back so we can plan our honeymoon for just after and before we move to our posting.

I have dreams of Spain and Portugal!

In the next couple of days, if I get to it, there will be a video up on my channel, just a look into our freezing New Years Eve celebration.

Yay! It's a channel!

Over the course of a month...

So it looks like the last time I posted on here was a month ago, exactly. Now that's not too good since I said this was going to be a weekly thing...

So since my last post, here is what happened:

Aaron did in fact graduate. He was sent off  to Borden to wait for his next training, that we now know will be in January. I am not too excited about that since that means when can not be at home doing on the job training for a bit. Yes in the long run it is better because he will be done his training earlier but I was hoping for him to be home for a bit, since he has been gone for so long already and i'm sick of doing the dishes alone! At the moment, he is home for the holidays so I am taking advantage of the extra hands to help out around the house.

As far as wedding stuff goes, we have done a lot. I feel very accomplished and feel the doom of the planning process starting to slowly lift off my shoulder even thought it is still present. We have received the bridesmaids and grooms-woman dresses, we have finalized little presents, we have sent out our invitations, we have picked out accessories, etc. My list is getting shorter but I still need to finish favors, bake some goodies, finish up decorations, have my gown fitted, print out menus, and I am forgetting a bunch of stuff. We hope to have a rehearsal at some point even thought most of our wedding party is scattered through the country. Sadly, Aaron's brother wont be part of the wedding party as he is being deployed, bummer. I guess it will be an almost all girls cast! This upcoming Friday, we are having our menu tasting, one less thing to do!

Aside from all the wedding planning and trying to figure out what is going on with Aaron's career, I found out some pretty disappointing news medically. Nothing major but it does confirm something I had been suspecting which is that my body has a harder time shedding weight. I have been struggling for a long time with getting to the weight I want to be but learning that it will most likely always be an uphill battle for me is a bit discouraging. I am determined to overcome it and find my balance but I am not going to lie, I was a bit heartbroken. The diagnostic came with even less exciting news, but that will be for a later post, I don't want this post to be too gloomy!  I have good people on my side so I think I can learn to deal and adjust.

Oh and interesting tid-bit for those of you who didn't know, my neighbor is crazy! It a long story, and if you want I can share the story in a different post, but the main thing to take away from this is that he is definitely crazy, and not the good kind of crazy!

No new videos for now on my YouTube Channel but i hope to make one for the holidays! You can find it here when it does go up.
